are there any sites out there really informative about how much does an f1 driver makes throughout the season. it would be much more interesting if it includes the salaries of the familiar backend drivers like sato and company as well as the test drivers.

It depends, there are drivers on the circuit who don't get paid a salary (Christian Albers for example). These drivers are in F1 because they have a Super license, and because they have sponsorship money.

Pedro Diniz is a recent driver of note who bankrolled (ora ctually his father's company) many of the teams he raced.

Gaston Mazzacane was fired from his last F1 position because his sponsor (PsiNet) failed to make a payment to his team (Prost)

Normally not. The news about how much a Formula 1 driver earns a year are usually based on rumours or information leaks from the teams or the companies (if it's about an ad done by a F1 driver).

F1 Racing Mag usually reports about salaries, can't remember the exact figure but obviously Ferrari pays the best. The magazine reports figures for each team and how the teams compare against each other.
