We used to spend hours on the phone and went places together but our situations changed a little I had to have 9 surgeries and am just now - after being bedridden for 3 years - getting back to my life again. In all that time she never sent me a card or called. She inherited a bunch of money and I think she has decided I'm not good enough for her. (We are not kids, we both have adult children) Her parents were alchoholics and she had a poverty ridden childhood and was pretty much the neighborhood loser,So I think her new money is making her into a big shot for the first time in her life. but I was her friend when she was the loser, and I was the one with the big reputation and the money,so what happened.?Can (adult) people be so shallow. We were very close for almost 20 years.

Any one can be shallow regardless of age. what she did was wrong but you are just as shallow for calling a loser when she had no money. You should have just moved on, you would have looked like the better person.

You perceive you have lost her friendship. You are going through the steps to grieve that loss, and anger is one of the steps. Check this out, and understand that as long as you progress (slow or fast, it does not matter) through the steps, you are doing fine.

Have you attempted to contact her recently with no success? If not, it could just be a mistaken miscommunication. I would suggest one last attempt to contact, then proceed to grieve, and go on to new friendships.

Are you jealous because now she has something that you had the BIG monopoly on in the relationship?
Do you feel, or does she feel like she owes you something for everything you used to do to her, now that the roles are reversed?
I would think that if someone did not want to hang around me, then they do me a big favor by leaving.
Why would I want to have someone around that did not like me?
I would get on with life, if I were you.
Good luck

Feelings just are, you have no control on how you feel you just do. The story doesn't matter, tomorrow you may feel different.
