Most people on this site just react; they don't think.
I am puzzled why people want to post an answer when they obviously have no idea whatsoever. And I guess research is too much to ask. Furthermore, most of the people here don't know the difference between an opinion and a fact. I guess it comes from listenting to too much talk radio.
I hope that Yahoo will find a way to discourage this practice.
I personally spend way too much time researching some of my answers, and generally re-write them several times.

Well, I have found, at times, that sometimes a question that seems stupid to us, is probably NOT stupid to the asker, although, of course, we've all seen those questions where the asker is a bona-fide, dyed in the wool idiot and then, I give as good an answer as I can, but, sometimes, there's no hope for it, and ya just have to give an answer that tactfully tells them that they are a moron..
As for good, legitimate questions, I give the best answer that I can and, sometimes, I have to do a little research, first, and I'll do that, just to ensure that I am giving a good, knowledgeable answer which helps the asker solve his or her question.
Also, I have seen questions from women askers, which, to them, are probably going to get rude answers, and they try to exclude guys, but, I've seen them get excellent answers from guys, and, occasionally, even better answers. Who can figure? smiles..

I jut say whatever comes to mind. Some people just have a better vocabulary, so they come up with cute little stuff to say instead of simply "yes" and "no" without even thinking about it.
If it is a serious issue, then yes, I may think more about how to put it appropriately and/or with less possability of offending someone who might not get the joke or be uspet at my flippant ansewrs. lol

Most of the time, I research the question before I answer it, other times i may answer tactfully and other times, depending on the question, I may be a little sarcastic or
give a funny answer, but I try not to be rude or obnoxious.

I answer stupid questions by saying….
Not all answers are directly proportionate to every question. But first, the Anatomy of a question must be examined.
What is a "question?" This is weird because one is forced to use the very entity being examined to examine the question of what a question is. This is an indication that there is something lacking in man's logic or his communication systems or both or something else.
The answer is within the answer...never the question. For if we answer before we are even asked, the answer is already there; isn't it? The answer my friend is blowin' in the wind, the answer is blowin' in the wind.
Hope you got your answer because I am not answering any more questions in this context nor am I questioning you further.

I try (although sometimes I want to scream at some of the mean and stupid answers!!) to be tactful. Even if it is a kinda crazy question, maybe the other person is actually wanting a serious answer!

To be truthful... it usually comes down to my mood. I try to be respectful, but sometimes you just need a sounding board. Apologies to anyone I've ever been Disrespectful & Unkind to... at least until the next time I read an ignorant/violent/sexist/etc. question/answer. Sorry, just stating the truth.
When I answered this I was in a crappy mood...you see what I mean?

I try to be as informative as possible but sometimes the sarcasm does come through. Sometimes, I think on the answer and at other times, I just pick whatever comes to mind (within reason)

I usually think about what I am going to say before I say it. There have been plenty of times that I have started to answer a question and then didn't because I couldn't come up with a good answer.

Depends..if it is an intentionally stupid question, I give a stupid answer and thank them for the points.
If it is a sincere question, that I can answer with some knowledge, I do.
An example was someone asked if we had seen her dog that got lost last week-end.
I responded that it just walked past my house in a pack, sorry it has gone feral.
