Some celebrities are referred to as "A class" such as Brad Pitt, whereas others such as Jade Goody are "C class" or less. How are celebrities classified, and how do you tell if a celebrity should be referred to as an A class, C class or otherwise?

well via amount of exposure in media such as magazines, news etc they get. aslo by amount they earn, movies they have been in and subsequent succcess of those movies. who they are going out with. how good looking they are ranked, their size. etc. also who they are related to e.g. kelly osbourne , paris hilton etc, im my opinion it is a combination of all those things which contribute to how popular and highly ranked an actress/actor is.

A-list is made up of bands or singers or actors who sell huge numbers of records, or who's films reach number one in the box-office, and if you win an Oscar or a lot of Grammies you are guranteed a place on the A-list, e.g. Tom Cruise, U2, Madonna. B-list is tv stars, popular comedians, and actors and singers/bands who have a cult following, or play supporting roles in films, but are still successful, e.g. Teri Hatcher, Chris Rock, Arctic Monkeys, Nelly Furtado, Ryan Phillippe. C-list is tv presenters, chat-show hosts, some politicians, some artists, some of the more popular reality tv stras like Jade Goody and Chantelle, and the people who make money by selling stories about their personal lives to magazines like Kerry Katona and Jordan. D-list is losers who are desperate for fame and will do anything to get on tv, have a pop career, or be in magazines, e.g. anyone on Love Island, Big Brother, page 3 girls, etc.

I'm sure money, type of roles they accept/play like Oscars vs. B films, how many awards they receive and what type, popularity, level or respect given by public and presented to public, what they own and their real estate address, if they are old/new money. These are just a few ideas that may make a difference in their classification. These make the difference with people in general so why not the celebs?

I think it's down to how popular they are at the time.
You'll notice that for instance, that programme where they dump "celebs" in the jungle, allegedly to rough it, is populated by minor celebs. You wouldn't find for instance Robbie Williams in there 'cos he's A list. Immensly popular (though not with me).
Someone like a newsreader would be generally a B list, well known but not particularly popular (not Trev though)

I think it all depends on public profile, and who gets invited to the best parties and premieres. I would be X class ordinary, cause I have a tendency to be mysterious and sneak in. What say you, handsome?
