I think a lot of certain people think Marijuana is worse then alcohol because it can be seen as a gateway drug leading to serious drugs. People think that after a while young kids will want to catch that high with something stronger and more dangerous. Which can happen.
However, I personally believe that Alcohol is way worse then pot... how many times have you heard of somebody killing their family in a fit of smoked-up rage - ya me either. People that smoke pot are to lazy to get off the couch most times to do any danger to themselves or anyone else. Unlike alcohol!!!!!

Well, possession of it can definitely get you into significant legal problems, moreso than alcohol can....A drug charge WILL knock you out of a lot of professions, or make it darned tough, notwithstanding the fact that Little Willie Clinton tried it, even if he didn't inhale...

Depending on the area of the country, and on whether it's an election year or not, you can do some REALLY heavy time in the slammer if you get caught with marijuana. See Schlosser's _Reefer Madness_ for an excellent discussion (readily available at libraries).

If you wanted to be practical, marijuana would be regulated and taxed, and alcohol would be banned. I've never seen anyone get aggressive on just plain pot, but man....had to deal with MORE than my share of ugly drunks....

You shouldn't use and operate heavy machinery/drive in either case, no question about it. But I'm not too aware of marijuana ALONE being implicated in too many cases of domestic violence, homicide, or suicide---and alcohol is a major player in all three of those.

No one ever said human beings were consistent in their thinking.

I understand that it is illegal, so people look down upon it. I would be liar if I said I didnt go through my phase with trying it in high school..it was ok/fun I guess, for a little while. Then as I grew out of it some of my friends never did. My cousin has been in rehab and back for using heroine. She started out using marijuana. In a sense I do believe that it is a gateway drug, but it also has to do with a lot of other things; influence of significant other, the people you hang out with, your level of curosity, etc. Anyways, Ive seen too many people that it has ruined. My best friend was one of the smartest people that I have ever met, we smoked for the first time together, except he stayed with it for a long, long time...still is. Let me just say, I am about to graduate college and my life is in pretty good order. I see him, who was smarter than I by leaps and bounds, but now see nothing. He still hangs out with the wrong crowd and has done nothing with his life. I love him to death but I wish I could have stepped up a little bit more and helped him to realize his potential.

I hope this helped you somehow. Sometimes we need to look past the legal jargin and look at something more personal, like lives that it has touched and changed.

There was a time, back in the 20's, 30's and 40's where alcohol was illegal & smokin opium was legal. I really feel it should be the other way around. I've never heard of anyone on pot has ever killed someone while driving. It also makes you alot more mellow and alcohol seems to bring out the wild side of people. Good idea but I don't ever think it will happen.

Because they have been misinformed over and over by their government and even their educational institutions. The facts haven't changed. Alcohol is a toxic, physically addictive substance that kills brain cells. Cannabis is nontoxic, not physically addictive, does not kill brain cells, in fact, its use can be beneficial when used in moderation.

In short, people are a victim of a deliberate misinformation campaign that villifies cannabis. Many institutions, doctors and scientists have opined that it ought not be illegal- including the DEA in the late 1970's. Of course, these days researchers can obtain government funding if they produce a study that mischaracterizes cannabis as harmful- much like funding for those few researchers that deny human causation of global warming.

Because they either have never been drunk, and experienced a hangover or have and have never experienced the other, just a high.

They think it is worst because the government told them it is, frankly it is a natural weed, growing freely as dandelions in some parts of the world. Liquor, beer etc, is man made and much more lethal, and causes liver cancer which is sometimes treated with Marijuanna, not the cancer, but because Kemo therapy robs you fo appetite they medically prescribe it to boost it.

Because they have never tried it theirselves.
Actually alcohol is worser for u than marijuana cause it goes to the gut, where smoke goes to the lung .
If those folks putting it down , tried it they would think other wise
Anyway, it is medicine to some folks suffering, just like alcohol is medicine to some folks with heart troubles.

I don't. For a start I've never seen someone who simply wants to chill out become violent. I've often seen the results of alcohol fuelled violence.

Because old alcoholic white men run this country. And people are prosecuted by old alcoholic attorneys and sentenced by old alcoholic judges. Oh and they're sited by alcoholic cops...

It's only worse in that it is illegal. Personally, given a choice, I'd much rather share the road with a pothead than a drunk.
