Just contact your local Council and they should put you on to the right person
I used to do school tours of the sewage works I worked at, believe it or not. Apparently I made sewage sound really interesting!!

Contact your local waste water treatment plant.
I did tour one when I was in high school. It was something. It does smell of course, but really it was a good learning experience.

surely to God you can take the guys somewhere more interesting - use your imagination, how do you think you would have felt at that age to be taken to a smelly **** disposal unit. Get real!! Ask them what they would like or be interested in or you will not be exactly popular. When I was that age, I would not have gone anyway.

Call your city's water works department and find out if tours are offered. Don't just show up you could be embarrassed by their reactions.

Contact your local authority - waste department. They'll probably refer you to your local Water Board.
