Herodotus.

Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle were philosophers. Herodotus wrote the History of the Persian Wars, and Thucydides wrote the Peloponesian War. Herodotus came before Thucydides.

I believe that Herodotus coined the term.
Ironically, he said that historie was an "inquiry into the past in order to find the truth" yet his History was filled with myths and legends and a lot of half truths.

I don't really know about the term, but I know that Heroditus is considered the Father of History. You might try looking him up. hope this helps and isn't just a useless statement.
