My first thought is of course the 72' Dolphins..still the only team to have a perfect season, who could forget names like Griese, Csonka, Jake Scott, Paul Warfield, Mercury Morris and a shut down safety named Dick Anderson who was MVP in the Super Bowl.

then the great Steelers teams of the 1970's, Swann, Bradshaw, Jack Ham, Mean Jo, Dwight White, Franco Harris and on and on....

but I believe the team that had the most dominate single year...was the 1985 Chicago Bears! This town was singing Super Bowl Songs by game 5 that season! They did have one loss to Miami...then went on to CRUSH the 2nd best team in the Super-Bowl 63-3 or something...or close to it..unbelievable!

what's your pick?

da' bears of that 1985 season were the best it has ever been as far as dominance by a single team, week 1 through the super bowl... their one loss was to the dolphins, in a complete shootout, that only got away from them near the end of the game... then in the super bowl, they laughed the patriots right out of the louisiana super dome with their dominating 46-10 victory...no matter what anyone will say about the defenses after- the bucs and ravens specifically, the 1985 Monsters of the Midway were the only team to ever dominate in the fashion that they did, making opposing offenses fear them.

....the 1985 Bears were probably. 15-1 regular season and a super bowl victory put them at 18-1 that season...1972 Dolphins were 17-0....But that Bears defense combined with a dominating run game...that's the most dominating team ever, reguardless of the undefeated Dolphins....

(For the guy that said the Texans for losing...2-14 right? My Panthers in 2001 were 1-15...do some research)

Excuse me but the '84 San Francisco 49ers went 15-1 in the regular season and rolled the Giants & Bears by double-digits in the playoffs. Oh yeah, then they went and demolished Dan Marino's 'Fins in SB 19 by the score of 38-16. They beat the Giants D that had LT and the developing Bears D w/ Buddy Ryan. That was 1 of the best teams ever put together in NFL history. They only lost 1 game all year and that was by 3 pts at home vs the Steelers in week 7.

All that said, you still gotta give it to the Dolphins for the perfect season. IMHO, if any team coulda matched that I think these 49ers could've but didn't.

The 1985 Chicago Bears.

Not only were they dominate, the went out and recorded a song called "The Super Bowl Shuffle" weeks before the playoffs even started!

Not only were they the most dominate team in the history of the NFL, they were the most dominate team in the history of North American team sports.

And that's a FACT!

It seems like it is much more common to be dominant with a superior defense, so I think what the Rams did a few years ago when they last won the Super Bowl was the most impressive season of the past 20 years.
