Are poor people who say that money ruins your life just jealous of the wealthy?

Sometimes they are and sometimes they aren't. And sometimes the mearly wealthy are jealous of the fabulously wealthy. People have emotions and feelings, and there's not much we can do to change that.

I think the answer to this is somewhat more complicated and must be viewed from the experiences of the person stating it. For a person who has always been wealthy, is your statement true. Generally not because money has always been part of their life. What about a person who has money thrust upon them (ie. winning a lottery)? In this case, it could very well ruin their life. Look at the problems that many lottery winners have. Many lottery winners end up bankrupt and others have new found friends and family all wanting a piece of the pie.

I think that for people that don't have money, they see it as ruining the lifestyle that they have become accustomed to. And when they get the money, they don't know what to do with or how to manage it properly. As a previous person responded, money can solve problems but create new ones. It's like a person who has been slave all his life being told that he is free and the slave asking what he is supposed to do now.

Money essentially ruins the life a person had, but then creates a new one that he/she must try to cope with.

Envious I would say, and this is a way to allow them to feel acceptable within their own right, however it depends on your definition of Wealth, You can be poorer than a Church Mouse, but be wealthy in other manners.
People with money are not necessarily wealthy, and they too envy the less fortunate.

First have you ever been really poor? I don't mean just the poor where you live in a three bed room home with a Chevrolet in the drive.
I mean the kind of poor that where you live on the dirt floor.
Personaly I have not ever been that poor are do I wish to be, but being rich and I mean Sam Walton rich is not all cake .
Being well off being able to buy anything you want anytime you want just destorts you vision of reality.
Money can destory you life because it can take over your life and become all that you live for.
Be very careful of what you wish for you just may get it and it may not be all you think it to be.
Sure having the thrity room mansion in Marsea or Rom is fun for awhile but it really can corupt your thinking to where that is all you think of.

I am not sure if you'd call this jealous-- but I am technically poor- not dirt floor poor, but make below poverty level, 2 kids and a husband. We have what we need, just not alot of luxury things- like insurance, cell phones etc.. Well, I know there are alot worse off than we are and alot who have it financially better. I get frustrated when I think about the $$ spent on GUCCI bags, 100$ shoes and really frivolous stuff when there are kids who get nothing for breakfast, people who can't go to the doctor for
anything because its so expensive without health insurance- . I just think people should be grateful for what they have and think occasionally about breakfast for some kid, a winter coat for an older woman....

Some poor people may be jealous when they say that, others could just be talking, and for others money could have ruined their life.

no, I don't think so. a lot of people think that if you have a lot of money you will never know who your true friends are because you might think they are just friends with you to get to use some of your money. same senario for relationships...how do you know the person that says they love you really loves you and not what's in your pocket book? i'm sure some of it is jealousy, but not the majority.

Not necessarily. Wealth does not bring happiness. It brings more responsibility and things to worry about. Wealth only trades freedom for comfort.

It's a way a feeling better about not measuring up.
Like a runner saying, "I wasn't really trying"; after losing the race.
