I am a full-time student, and I will receive my Bachelor of Social Work degree in one year if I stay in school. However, I have been offered a job that pays $24/hour, and it is more than full time, so I would not have time for school. I would be answering calls about tax questions, and I do not think I would like it very much. I do like social work, but $24/hour is hard to resist. If I quit school now, I might not have the motivation or time to go back later on and finish my degree, but I can't be sure of that. I know that no one but me can make this decision but any advice would be appreciated.

It's a government job with a fairly solid future but not a lot of room for movement to different types of government jobs. My fiance has this job, and I don't think that I would hate it but I wouldn't love it either.

That sounds like a boring job. Stick with social work. Not only will you make more money in the long run with a degree, but you'll have more job security. If you take the 24/hr job, in 5 years they may require a degree of some kind anyway. And if you don't go back to school later you might end up stuck doing something you hate for life. Is that really worth a little more money in your pocket today?

A degree is forever, and no one can ever take it away from you. The job market is unstable, and this isn't even a job with a strong future for you. If you quit school, you may regret it. It's much harder to stop and start than to keep going. With a degree, not only will that job still be available, but probably many other jobs that you are much more interested in as well.
Stay in school. Tough it out and be patient. You'll get $24 soon enough.

A job in social work is hard to come by and work experiences are valuable. the first job you have that is relevant to your degree should be anything even if it is sometime that you don't like coz you can always hold on to this job, earn some $$ and quit this job once you find a better one. Work experience does count more than a degree, however a degree is needed for a promotion.
what is the least number of subjects you can take per term? (one subject? are you able to handle this load? i know many who can.) and can you take this unit externally/online/ partially externally?
If your uni does not allow you to study part time then you should forgo your job and finish your degree. It's better to have one thing out of the way so you can fully focus on your job hunting.

Personally, I suggest you finish your degree, but only you can make that decision. You might not have the motivation, time or money to return to school later. Life happens. One never knows what other opportunities will present themselves if you hold the course. Might I suggest weighing all the pros and cons of the decision and to sit for a period of time in quiet meditation (I know it sounds corny, but it works) Best wishes

If you don't think you would like it don't do it, why would you take $24/hr just to be unhappy everyday. My advice to u is to stay in school, you don't have much longer to go and when you're done you can get a job that you actually enjoy, the money you earn won't be the only benefit you get from the job.

You need to finish your degree. You'll make more money with a degree, in addition, professional jobs these days are requiring more than a B.A. or B.S. they are now looking for Master degrees. The more education you have, the more well rounded and educated person you are. Finish the degree!!!

Do not set yourself up in a job you do not enjoy!! No amount of money is worth being unhappy at your job. This is what you have to do day after day, after day, after day.....Happiness is worth way more than money!!! Get your degree girl! You may find you end upmaking more than the $24 an hour and if not, you may be able to get the same or simular job after you are through. Just my opinion now...

I think you should get that degree. After all, if you can pull a $24/hour job without the degree, think of what you could do WITH it.
