We all know to be the best you have to beat the rest. And we all know Southern Cal football ain't the best. I'm tired of people saying Southern Cal is the best when they never faced any tough teams. They get a bye to the championship for beating all those sorry teams from the West Coast. And if they did face a team from the SEC it always be somebody sorry like Arkansas, Ole Miss, Vandy. They would not face Miami, FSU, Florida, Auburn, LSU, Georgia, Tennessee, or Clemson. Because they would get they A$$ kick badly. Especially last year, Reggie Bush look so great to everybody because he faced teams with no defense, teams from the Pac10. You saw what happen to him against Texas. HA. 95 yards. TRASH. The Pac 10 is the sorriest conference ever. Never ever dominated football. It always one or two teams that were ............. Aight.

Well it really seems as though you have already taken the liberty of answering your own question...however, if you were looking for an opinion on the topic then here is my take...

First and foremost you have to account for the fact that very few teams get the oppritunity now a days to play outside their conference till the Bowl season anyway. 11 to 12 game schedules means that every team gets the early sesaon cupcake, one out of conf. matchup and then the 9 to 10 in conf games.

While I will agree with you that Texas put a smack down on the Trojans, they did win what, 35 straight games, or some crazy number like that...they were a very good team, and I am sure that they will continue to dominate the West Coast...

there is really only one team in the country that has the distinction of being able to say they put their necks on the line with the best every year and that is ND (since they are independent, and it pains me to say that cuz' I hate ND). One thing to keep in mind though is that USC has won multiple national championships and played in a nuber of top bowl games so it is hard to say that haven't ever dominated.

If I remember correctly, a few years ago, USC beat Auburn like a stepchild in Auburn the first game of the season. You want to talk about trash, the ACC?? Come on, they don't even play football, that's a basketball conference. Look, Miami or FSU always got a pass because they played a bunch of nobodys every year like FAMU and Louisana Tech. And when they play each other, it's all turnovers and dropped passes, garbage.

The Pac-10 runs pro style offense, just look at all the quarterbacks in the NFL that are from that conference. When's the last time Clemson, LSU, Miami, or Georgia put a quarterback in the NFL?? I'll tell you, it's like 25 years.

Will never happen. Due to the way the two division system with a championship game, teams in the SEC are rewarded for scheduling marginal Div I programs, knowing that all they have to do is finish 6-6 and still mathematically be eligible to plan in the Championship game. Also, the SEC has contracts with six bowl games and two at large bids for bowls. So, 8 SEC teams are guaranteed bowl games out of 12. Which means SEC teams play 12 games to determine which bowl to go to and eliminate 4 teams. But those are the rules the SEC plays by and all members agree. that will not change until the NCAA develops a playoff system that is uniform.

First of all, get your facts right. SC's played Auburn and Arkansas home and away over the last five years; they're both still in the SEC, aren't they? They also played Virginia Tech in 2004, that's ACC, right? That's five of fifteen non-conference games in five years with your ACC and SEC puss boys -- and geez, looks like USC won all five, with the scores being 50-14 (USC road game), 70-17, 24-13 (neutral site), 23-0, 24-17 (road) -- doesn't look like they did too bad in winning those games, does it.

Let's see who, oh, LSU plays: Louisiana-Lafayette and Arizona, there's a couple of powerhouse teams. (They also play Fresno State which is no slouch.)

Auburn has Buffalo (possibly the worst team in Division I) this year, Ball State last year, the Citadel two years ago.

Alabama? Louisiana-Monroe, Middle Tennessee State, Florida International, Utah State over the last couple years.

Florida squares off against Central Florida and Western Carolina this year.

Geez, talk about tough.

And I'm not even going to go into the ACC which is so weak they had to import teams to make it worth watching.

You're full of it.

Look at USC's non-conference schedule year in and year out and it's much tougher than most SEC schools.

Example? USC's OOC schedule this year is Arkansas, Nebraska, and Notre Dame (who they play every year). Look back at the Trojans' schedules in years past and they haven't played a non-DI-A team since the 1950's.

What's Georgia's OOC schedule this year? Western Kentucky, UAB, Colorado, and Georgia Tech. Florida's? Southern Mississippi, Central Florida, Western Carolina, and Florida State. Miami's? Florida A&M, Louisville, Houston, and Florida International. LSU's? Louisiana-Lafayette, Arizona, Tulane, and Fresno State. Auburn's? Washington State, Buffalo, Tulane, and Arkansas State. Everyone of them plays teams that are either DI-AA or should be.

There are 5 current Top 25 teams on USC's schedule this year. Florida also faces 5, but Auburn only plays 3, as does LSU, as does Georgia.

Who's scared to play whom again?

In my opinion they dodge SEC & ACC top tier teams because these teams are so well oiled from playing other tough teams in their conference year to year. I think that they realize they have a higher chance of loosing against one of those teams. So they play a team like Arkansas. They are not near the threat that LSU is, but they still have the respectability of being from the Nation's best football conference.

Actually, you made a mistake...it suppose to read "Why is the Top Teams in the SEC and ACC afraid to play USC? The answer is simple...look at the all-time records of USC vs the SEC and ACC. No brainer...those teams do not want to get embarrased.

USC played a home and home with Auburn in the last 5 yrs and won both times. They played back east against Virginia Tech a few years ago and beat them.

The best teams are from the West Coast (Pac10)and the Midwest (Big 10). They don't want to lower their level of opponents by playing sucky teams from the south.
