I had my tires rotated at the Sears in St.Paul, MN. I had a large amount of cash in my vehicle needless to say, I thought it would be safe in my LOCKED CONSOLE. Well, I gave my keys to a thief. No, he didn't take it all - just $750 of it and was sneaky enough not to get caught on their "video cameras" and to take just enough out of the 3 envelopes so it wasn't noticable at first sight. Before you give your keys away at the next service station - especially SEARS, remember to haul with you ALL your personal belongings. Because if you get something stolen out of your vehicle while you so trusting gave them your keys - "THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT", this is a quote from Judy the manager. I will never trust SEARS with anymore purchases of mine - EVER!

-It wasn't Sear's fault. It was the technicians fault. Just cuz he was sneaky don't mean that the entire store is to blame.

What is your question? No store, large or small will take the word of a customer that something was stolen by one of their employees. Think about it, how could they? People lose things and money all of the time, but have no idea when or where until they discover it is missing and then want to blame who was closest at the time of discovery. Maybe your boyfriend/husband/kid/neighbor/coworker/etc. took it?

You can't lay blame for this except with yourself. No one should EVER leave anything of value inside their vehicle while it is being serviced. Whether it is locked in a glove compartment, console or whatever.
It is wrong for someone to steal, but also wrong to leave it there for temptation.

You are a law student and you did something that dumb?
I'm sorry for your loss, but really! Get a clue! Soon you'll be complaining that you left your keys in your car and some thoughtless person stole it!

Not really Sears fault, you should know better than to leave that kind of money behind. Hope you learned your lesson, it sure was an expensive one!

What do you expect them to do? It comes down to your word against their employee. I can tell you if I were a manager I would stick up for my employees. You have absolutely no proof that anyone took the money.

why would you leave "a large sum of cash" in your car...
of course Sears won't do anything about it...what would you do if you were in their situation? Can you prove how much money you had?

Well of course. That goes for any mechanic. Most of the big chains try to prevent their employees from stealing like this, but they can't stop it all, so you shouldn't leave valuables in your car.

You are an absolute idiot for giving your car over to strangers with money in it. You have nobody to blame but yourself. Pull your head out of your ***, and wake up to the real world.
