Could be... but my bet is two days after the Democratic convention announcing the 2008 presidential candidate. To steal their thunder and stop the momentum.

No. I don't think it'll be two days though. It'll be at least a week before the elections so that the Republicans will all have time for their political posturing, tv appearances, and the "we told you so" and "the we're winning the war on terror" speeches.

And basically, Osama won't be "caught" per se. They'll just finally let him out of that cave they have him holed up in making his scary movies. I have a hard time believing that they don't know where he is and that they can't seem to follow whoever his courier is who delivers the movies to Al Jazeera.

When given their queue, the special forces military will probably drag him out of his cave apartment, beat his azz really good and rough him up first to make it look like there was a struggle, then blow up the cave to make it look like they'd just found his "stronghold." They'll blow up a few of Osama's men in the cave so that it's more realistic and they'll say they caught him as he ran out just before the explosion which knocked him off of his feet. Then they'll drag him through the desert sand for more special effect, and THEN parade him in front of the cameras for a photo shoot. (See, so that week after he's " caught," that gives the politicians time to formulate their speeches and do a little last minute stumping through all of the red states and the one red splotch down in southern California. The "patriots" and Republican faithful will then come out in droves waving their little flags and singing the praises of Bush and Cheney.)

Dems just don't have a chance I'm afraid - unless they can find Osama first, and get him to talk about how he's been kicked back making movies whenever needed.

Now, how's that for cynicism? Yours pales by comparison. lol

Wag the Dog baby, Wag the Dog.

Actually Osama isn't lost. He's sitting on a crystal clear beach on the US Virgin Islands. Traded in his turban for a beach towel, and is sporting a cleanly shaved face and a hip new hair cut. Probably wearing some fancy new Ray ban Sunglasses and traded in his boots for a new pair of Birkenstock. He's sipping a Margarita and enjoying a harem of woman who have no idea who he is.

If that were the case, it would have happened 2 days before the last Presidential election!

It probably is too cynical. The same kind of speculation was in the air before the elections two years ago. Obviously it was incorrect then.

My question is this - when Bin Laden and Bush play ping pong on the weekends, who wins?

I expected it over the 5th anniversary of 9/11, but sure, I'll wager for Halloween.

It's my cynical belief that we've already captured him, and that information will come out just before the election.

Nah, they will just capture #2 for the 1,000th time.
