Above are gfood as well as external floppy. Floppys are going the way of the old 5.5 inch floppys (and the way of the mammoth), so I'd suggest one of the other forms of backup. Plus 1 dvd can hold about 500 floppys worth of info (a dvd is more than 4 times that of a CD). External Hard drive may be good as well. Keep a running backup of everything. Some come with a program that makes backup easy. Push a button on the external drive and walk away. Something to think about.

If you need to back up all the files, I would suggest an external hard drive with the same amount of disk space as your internal hard drive. You can probably purchase one at Best Buy or Circuit City. By backing the files up to one hard drive, you won't lose any files. I think that Windows XP has a Backup utility that should make it easy to actually do the backup.
Hope this helps.

They way I do it is to use an external disk drive. But, if you have a CD or DVD burner you should be able to use that as well. It will likely take several disks, a good bit of time and you will have to keep good track of the disks.
Using an external drive is easy but has two draw backs. One is that HDs can fry and become damaged. The other is that external drives can be spendy. You would need a USB port to use most exteral drives. You will also want it to be a USB 2.0 port, as a 1.0 will be slow.

a floppy disk is the worst possible way to backup files anyway. the disks are unreliable and have very little space on them.
what other drives do you have that use removeable disks or a flash drive?
also there are many online services where you can backup your files
online file backup. the paid ones have more features and are more reliable. some you have to do yourself and others you can set up to back up your files automatically.

There are many ways. You can get an external hard drive (USB or FIREIRE), or you can burn the data to CD or DVD. OR, you can upload your files over the internet to a Yahoo Briefcase or other online storage site....

Get a USB or firewire external hard drive and backup the essential stuff. You can move the hard drive from PC to PC. This way, you have it all in one place.
