great question!!! My husband and I were just talking about that the other day. we feel it is a bit peculiar that just a month or so ago, gas was at $2.89 in our area and now we are seeing gas stations around the area we live at $2.37. that's a little more than 50 cents less.
ANd that's because for a long time, gas stayed and was staying at $2.89.
Our theory is: government lowers prices to get the "Republican sympathy vote," they continue to stay in office after elections because most people in America are so gullible to believe that "oh, the government isn't as bad as everyone is claiming them to be. let's keep the reps we have now," and once they know they have control for at least a while longer, they'll raise prices once more....
gas will probably go for over $3.00 after November elections...

I don't think oil prices will rise after elections, I see many politicians taking credit for lowering the price, though.
Unfortunately, OPEC (Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries) is meeting this week to discuss if they should slow down production of oil to create a shortage so that price per barrel won't keep falling. They would be the reason as to gas prices go up again.

Buns, you know that is going to happen. There is more money to be made by raising prices but it is important for the oil company's to elect repuglicans so they can get away with what they have for the last 6 years.

Gasoline and heating oil prices are dictated by supply and demand, not due to some dark secret cabal of conspiracists. The Supply of oil is up, and demand is down, hence prices are falling. Since now through December is one of the weakest periods for demand of petroleum products; no the prices will not go up after the elections.

Since our elections have no bearing on gas prices either way, I have to say no.

Depends on what happens with OPEC, doesn't it? ; )
I don't think they are particularly fond of Americans, the Chinese are buying a lot of gas. Supply and demand, as usual.
