In can sometimes contractions which could start labor. The reason you are supposed to abstain in the last month is because you are starting to dialate and you dont want the sperm to go up there because it brings bacteria up there and that can be harmful to the baby.

It is perfectly healthy to have sex during pregnancy as long as there is no bleeding. Sex CAN'T induce labor. I have spoken wit my doctor about many of these issues and she told me that it can't. You're body only has the baby when it's ready

Only if your body is ready to have the baby. Semen does have cervix ripening properties, but you will only go into labor if your body is ready. Sex can't hurt to help get things going though! Plus it can still be fun and it won't be interrupted by baby just yet! LOL

I heard that it can help. Sometimes doctors will encourage it especially if you're late. Something in the semen can actually help thin out the cervix to prepare for labor. Something like that. Ask you doctor or do some internet research or even check it out in the what to expect when your expecting book.

It may just be an old wives tale but midwives still tell that their patients to try it as their due date approaches. Also, I've heard its not necessarily the act of sex more so than the orgasm that does it. Either way, you can't hurt the baby and so why not enjoy some fun before you have to take the six weeks off.
