if you feel your friend is never there for you is she really your friend? That is what I thought friends were. Maybe you should talk to her about it if she is any sort of friend she will probably be devastated you feel that way and try to be better in the future. Good luck

Yes I have a freind like this who only wants my company when she feels that she can show off her new flat, and boasts how she is so grown up that she pays a morgage and I still am a student and live with my parents. I made every effort for her birthday, and it took me four weeks of harrassment and almost stalking to give it too her. (It a pretty siliver necklace with pink pendant).

At Christmas I will buy a present...but something I will like...so in the event she does not come round...I will keep the present for myself!

Don't let yourself be taken advantage of...put your foot down make less contact, let her come to you.

I have been freinds with the above for over 15 years - her personality has changed and not for the better

Yes I too am a friend of convenience. I like the woman, our kids get on (to a degree! her daughter bullies mine somewhat) and we have a lot in common but she has a lot of friends and I have fewer. She tends to leave me till last on her list and I always have to fit in once she's made arrangements with everyone else.

Personally I just get on with it and don't bend to her every whim but I guess the best thing would be if we both just spoke to our friends about it! Now there's an idea...

It depends on what you feel. If you can't live without her - stop worrying about what she feels about you and just enjoy her company. In any other case try to have a brake - give her and yourself some time, to define your priorities.

most people are lucky if they have freinds who appreciate them for who they are and what they do.
Freinds who dont appreciate what their freind does for them are not worth the time or space.
