Yep. Assad hates us (Americans) and is a puppet of Ahmadinejad who hates us even more. Ahmadinejad considers his country to be at war with the United States and in his words "the Anglo-Saxon civilization" as well as wanting to wipe Israel off the map.
This was an attack on us by Syria and Iran...make no mistake about it.

No I don't think so. I seriously doubt anything like that. For the following and other reasons:
1. Bashir Al'Assad and his father before him have usually been or tied to be subtle and circumspect in any political actions that could have ramifications outside of their own internal politics (don't follow the rethoric, in Syria it usually is just that- they are the thinking man's Saddam Hussein).
2. The district where the attack occured is the havenof the elites in Damascus. Bashir Al Assad's office is down the road and the residences of many of their top security and other officials are located there.
3. The Chinese Embassy is next door. major supplier of weapons to these guys and they wouldn't want to upset them. They know that many times it has been the threat of Chinese vetos that have kept them from international and UN sanctions.
4. It was so inept an attempt that I don't think the guys who killed Harirri would even want to be associated with it.

Syria is a country governed by sensible people. Only enemies of Syria can think of attacking of USA embassy. Moreover American intelligence is always there to judge themselves about the situation. To understand Middle East issue one should have the courage to place themselves in their position and do justice. USA is playing a very important role for peace in Middle East. It is receiving supports from all nations. This help is vital.

No. The Syrian government itself feels under threat from these terrorists. It is between a rock and a hard place. It has funded them to keep democracy from its' borders but it is quickly finding that now unleashed their agenda is different to Syrians'. Al Qaeda have said in the last couple of days they are now going to turn their attention to Israel and the Gulf States. The quandary for Syria is what do they do now. If they stop funding they will be targeted, if they don't they will eventually be targeted.

The attack on the US Embassy in Syria was possibly carried out by Lebanon in hopes of weakening Syria politically and creating an armed conflict with Syria and its close ally, Iran. Syria occupied Lebanon in 1976, leaving after international protests in 2005. Syria is blamed for the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri. Syria is one of the primary causes of Lebanon’s troubles with Israel as it is one of the main suppliers of arms to Hezbollah.
A weak Syria would increase Lebanon’s position in the world.

No. I really don't think so. The Syrian government doesn't need anymore bad publicity. It was probably AlQaeda. They had warned of something like this (ie. more attacks) on some website a few days ago.

First thing I thought of...
Its a classic dirty trick. Save someones's life or kill the people attacking them and they love you forever.
Syria is very shrewd in politics. Assad's father ran things in his favor without regard to ideology, always chosing what was best for him, I can't imagine the son missing totally on those lessons, even though most Syrians regard him as a Fredo Corleone.

Seems unlikely.
However, Syria is on the US State Department's list of sponsors of terrorism.
