Sweetie! It's OK! Really! You have gotten through the hard part by just knowing that he likes you! That should in itself give you a sense of relief!
Now what is it that you need help with? Advice?
Well, here is some advice for you. Since you both know you like each other than you don't need to worry about what other people are saying, unless we don't have the whole story. I can only go by what you have said here.
Plan on doing things together that you both like. If you are in school than go to his sports events if he is into sports and he goes to yours if you are doing that. Study at each others homes. Invite him to dinner at your house. These are a few ideas that I am just suggesting.
Don't let anyone spoil your liking this guy because it could be that they are just jealous and don't want to see you two together, that's all.

What other people say isn't what matters--it's what both of you feel. There's no reason to be scared, especially since he's told you he likes you. Go out with him, and you have several possibilities. One, it could be a lot of fun, and you may realize you've found the man/boy of your dreams. Two, it could be interesting or entertaining, and you could make a new friend. Three, it could be a disaster, and you will know, and chalk it up to experience. No matter what, what have you got to lose by trying?
