In other words, this is not your father’s democrat party. Why is it so hard to understand that fighting for a woman’s right to vote is not the same as fighting for her right to murder her baby? Why is it so hard for you to understand that fighting for the freedom of black people is not the same as fighting for welfare benefits for black people? If you are a liberal today please do not smear the good name of real liberals from the past. And please, if you are still a democrat because of what the party once was, the party of the workingman, please, take a look around at what your party really stands for. Godlessness. I do not mean this in the religious sense, I mean it in the hedonistic pagan like debauchery the Romans once embraced, that is what you, the modern liberal/democrat, seems to want. Consider a switch. Email me if you are interested in joining the Republican Party.

Liberals today still stand for human and other rights as is in the constitution. It is the conservatives that is suppressing these rights. Even if you vote for the lesser of two evils it is the democratic party as they are the ones that really care about humans and not just the money that can be made off of them.

Wow, you said a mouth full. I grew up in a democratic household. I always heard that it was the working man's party. When I first started voting, I voted for democrats, but when I actually started delving into the issues and taking more than just a surface look at things, I switched to conservative.
In reality, JFK was the last true democrat. He believed in a strong national defense, civil rights, tax cuts and the sovereignty of the USA. He also hated communism/socialism with a passion--because he recognized the dangers.
If JFK, Truman and some of the others were alive today, no doubt, they would be republicans, if one were judge by taking their ideology into consideration.
A lot of people who have made the switch away from the democratic party have echoed what Ronald Regan said. "I didn't leave my party, my party left me"--and I agree. I would still be a democrat today if they hadn't sold out their core beliefs to special interest groups and socialists on the far left.

Yes and no.
Yes, the specific issues and platform agendas of the liberals are different than they were 100 or 200 years ago. But the core concept of the movement is the same -- being progressive, opening up to new liberties and new freedoms, finding better ways to help people.
What's changed is the context, and what "forward" means from there.
And I'm sorry, you couldn't pay me enough or scare me enough that I would ever support the Republican party, given how badly they have damaged and betrayed American over the past decade.

Why is it so hard to understand that a ball of cells is not a baby. That sometimes people need help to get on their feet. That we haven't seen bread lines in over 50 years and don't want to see them again. That a person can choose to be godless and still be a moral person.
It's time for the adults to drive. Everything changes in November.

Go! William C! I wish you had pointed out that God's laws of 1800 are still the same in 2006. His commandments do not modernize with the times.

If the Founding Fathers knew that people like you were pushing the Federal govt monitoring private citizens in their homes, censorship, nation-building, printing funny money by the Treasury, and blind allegiance to a man named George they'd give up and go home and not bother to start this country.

I am personally pretty disgusted that Conservatives are so screwed up today. I am a Pagan Conservative.
Yes, I believe in upholding the constitution. That is a conservative value. I believe our forefathers wrote the constitution properly, with limits on the powers of our government to protect us. I am for the preservation of the constitution. I am against radical ammendments and laws that nullify the constitution, such as your so-called Patriot Act.
I believe in personal responsibility AND I believe in family values. I believe everyone has the right and responsibility to take care of their own, whether they are straight, gay, Christian, Pagan, pregnant on purpose or by accident, whatever, and changing the constitution to ensure that they never have these rights is a disgusting concept.
I believe in funding education so that people are empowered to take care of themselves. I believe in providing affordable medical care, so that people are empowered to take responsibility for their own health. I believe in fighting defensive wars, to provide for the security of our nation. I do not believe in picking fights, or wasting money on nonsense.
I support your right to pray in school and teach alternative theories to the origin of man. I support my right, and my children's right to pray their prayers and teach OUR creation myths too. I support your right to have religious statues and presentations on your lawn and in public areas. I support MY right to have MY religious paraphenelia wherever I want it as well. I support Christian's right to prosthylatize on public property. I support Pagans rights to have public circles. I support home churches, Pagan and Christian.
I believe the Earth is a treasure that must be protected. I am disgusted by conservative laws that put Her at risk for the sake of the almighty dollar.
No, I won't be joining your Radical Party, because that's what it is. It is destroying our nation with radical ideas. Conservatives and Liberals have switched meanings and places. Once Conservatives wanted to keep things as they were, and Liberals wanted gradual changed. Now conservatives want Radical change and Liberals are fighting to keep our rights as they are. It's disgusting.
