There is a user on here (probably more than one actually, but I have particularly noticed this one) that seems to answer a lot of questions with derogatory remarks. Many times he completely ignores the content of the question and only says something rude about the spelling or grammar, even if the question is serious. (Yes, one of them was mine!)
He only ever answers questions (to date, over 800) but never asks any.
He also does not show his contact detail so there is never any recourse for the people he has abused.
My question is this,
What do you think makes him this way?
I am interested to hear the views of anyone with a background in psychology
But all answers are welcome.
Thank you for your time.

It is with ease one can be rude and aggressive towards others, his own developmental issues are probably a social hindrance towards him. His overt anger and displacement of the use of the English language depicts an individual whom has aggressive tendencies, obsessive personality with regards to literary abilities and one whom has suffered a social stigma and now lashes out by using question forum in order to vent his rage and annoyance over literary devices not used (according to him) properly. The only way to seek recourse is by red flagging him and explaining why. The fact is that this is a public forum and everyone is welcome to use it as long as they adhere to the rules and guidelines. Good Luck

I've not noticed him, but maybe he's just really annoyed at the level of ignorance displayed by the questions some people ask -- either the content of the question or the manner in which it's asked. The lack of a basic understanding of grammar irks me to no end as well.

Or, he just may get his kicks and giggles by being a rude jerk.

There are people on this site who ask questions, but have already decided what answers they can't/won't accept. Their questions are usually concentrated in an area that they have a particular obsession with. Hence, the anger and emotion. Then, when people don't respond as required, it provides a trigger for them to release their anger. They seem unable to separate themselves and other people from their opinions. They personalise them. So that, when you disagree with their opinion, they take it personally as disagreeing with them, rather than their opinion. They use the site to lecture miscreant respondees, like a teacher lecturing a pupil in front of the class. As a result of this intolerant control freak behaviour, their questions become ever longer, according to the number of people who require lecturing. They should be removed from the site.

I have come across that too with the questions I ask and on anwering them see that some of the users come up with derogatry remarks instead of giving a half way and decent answer that people can use. and alot of people are serious about their questions and are trying to decide things or do research. it seems they have nothing to do but to put other peole down just because they need information for things this is to speak of insecurity and ignorance. as for me I evaluate questions to answer if they are good and i know the answer or some information to help out I share it. I don't go on line to put anyone down.

it's all about the anonimity of such sites. This person can from a stand point of obscurity take out his sad life on other ppl who by asking a question have made themselves vulnerable to this assault. Thankfully most of us are NOT like that. If I see something I don't like I just ignore it as far as answering it goes, and if it's sufficiently abusive or offensive I may well report it.

Never let the jerks get you down. Evidently, there are people on here who just try to get more points racked up by answering short quippy, or smart alecky things. I really don't understand why people would answer a question with a vulgarity, especially since you could report them as abuse. Ignore the idiots and concentrate on the nice people who truly want to try to help. :)

My best guess; he uses the internet to get his frustrations out. It is very easy to be hurtful because all any of us are really doing is typing into a computer. It's easy to forget that there is a real person at the other end. Like anything in life, we have to be selective about who we interact with and how we interact. Asking questions leaves you vulnerable to serious responders and the not-so-serious responders. Thanks for your question. FYI - I don't ask any questions either, because I keep getting an error message on the ask site. It's very frustrating. I

Usually a sign of insecurity, belittling others inspires feelings of superiority. Probably a person that does not hold much power in life i.e their job and is not very assertive.
As we are all aware the internet affords anonymity so much easier to vent feelings that otherwise would not have the bottle to do.

It probably gives him a feeling of superiority over the users. It is always easier to criticise than to be constructive. Deep down this person may be insecure and feel a need to control or have power, which he may not have in his real life...I'd need to read his answers more closely.

Sociopath with issues. Probably low-self esteem that gets his kicks by putting others down. Living in a cycle of negativity that needs to be broken out of by positive reinforcement.
