Okay, I need an educated answer here............This is my story. I'm 26 years old. I have a 2 year old and a 5 year old. I am 35 weeks pregant. I'm a busy mom. I take my oldest to school, my youngest to daycare, then I am off to school myself. I get plenty of sleep, but I am just so tired during the day I can barely stand it. I have asked my doctor what is going on and she says it's just my body's way of telling me to slow down. BUT........I CRAVE, NEED, and I HAVE to have caffine. Anything from starbucks or a big sweetened tea does the trick. ANYTHING will do if it keeps me awake, and energized. I know too much caffine is not good for your unborn baby, but does any one know exactly how much IS too much?? Thanks!

I tried to give caffeine up when I was pregnant, but I had such monster withdrawl headaches that my doctor told me it was okay to have caffeine, just to minimize my normal consumption (I used to sip iced tea all through the day before I got pregnant!) I cut down to one glass of iced tea or a cup of coffee in the AM and I was fine, as were both my kids. I think if you limit yourself to a cup or two of coffee, tea, whatever, you'll be fine.

You need to talk with your doctor about this. Just in case you have some medical history that would preclude you from having caffeine. If not, you should be able to have 1-2 cups of coffee or tea each day without problems. I did with my son and it helped me to get through the day especially at the end. I also increased my protein intakes and green vegetables. That too made the world of difference.

It varies, coffee is a diuretic, so make sure you drink plenty of water or other healthy fluids. I would suggest you do not exceed one cup a day. That should give you your buzz but still not affect your health.

Limit yourself to one caffinated drink per day and you'll be fine.

Correction, it needs to be less than 400 mg a day.

400 mg is too much.

A cup or two won't hurt you....it didn't hurt me with either one of my pregnancies.
