No, prenatal vitamins are for the baby's benefit and yours once he or she is there, you should probably start taking folic acid which helps prepare your body for pregnancy and once you conceive it reduces the risk of the baby having neurological problems, my gyno started me on folic acid since five months ago when I told him I would start trying to get pregnant.

www.marchofdimes.com Has interesting info about conception and prenatal issues.

You could also buy a fertility monitor (they are sold in pharmacies) or an ovulation kit that could help you monitor the days you are specially fertile, I just bought mine and started using it and it is really simple (I bought the Clear Blue kit), that can also increase your chances of conceiving because who'll know exactly when you are ovulating.

Hope this helped!

I went to the gyno after I was married just for a check up. I asked her what type of vitamins I should be taking and she suggested Pre-Natal Vitamins. She said even if we weren't going to try for a year or two it's still a good idea to take them just in case. I have been taking pre-natal vitamins on and off for over a year now. I have also switched gynos and my new doctor told me the same thing. I did ask if it increased my chances of getting pregnant and she told me some people claims that it helps but it's not proven. I hope this helps! TTC #1 first month

I don't know if it will help you concieve faster, but it won't hurt things any. It will have your body in tip-top shape for pro-creating for sure. In fact, my doctor told me after my last child that I could and actually should continue taking prenatal vitamins the rest of my life even though I'm done having children. He said it will improve my nail and hair health and just help me feel better in general. Good luck on concieving!!!

NO, but for some women it will help their bodies to absorb the necessary amounts of folate to help avoid spinal cord issues during development should you get pregnant. I was not able to take pre-natal vitamins. They literally made me sick because of the high iron content.

Not really, but you should be taking them if you are trying. I told my doctor I was trying and she told me to get on pre natal vitamins first.
