No, conservatism is not bad for America, it is an important part of the dialog, but when it is a monologue, with dictated terms, it becomes like the liberal voice in the late 60s and early 70s. The nation moves to far to the extreme. Personally, I find many of the ideas proposed by the conservatives to be highly pragmatic. As you know, one would not call me a conservative.

No - and I'm a moderate - (hello Shiraz!) a difference of opinion always has a chance of offering a better solution. We need more than one take on all matters of public opinion, especially the ones we might not agree with so we can figure out the best and smartest way of doing things. I am "conservative" on some issues, moderate on some, and "liberal" on some - it just depends on what the issue is.
