I need to have 5 sample vertebrate (easy)
and 5 invertebrate (having trouble finding)
please help me clarify this!
remember they have to live in the desert or grassland

go down about 4 or 5 paragraphs to the section titled the invertebrates...vertebrates follows - hey 2 for 1! :o)

Definitely do not use snakes, unless you can find one with an exoskeleton. Ants are ubiquitous and all the other insect answers that have been given would work too.
