I mean apart from not knowing how to use an alarm clock or being a real d***k and not caring to be punctual;
what is it that some people are always late to turn up for work or for an event or an appointment ... is there a logical or psychological explanation to that?

Some people really subconsciously don't like their job or whatever it is, so they find all kinds of "last minute" things that "have" to be done before they leave, or they sabotage themselves by being too slow in the morning so they miss the bus, etc. Then if they get fired or miss whatever they always have a lame excuse and wonder why people are so mean.
Others are just terminally disorganised.

Lethargy sets on things we don't fancy doing or bears no severe consequence, so if your boss Willl not raise the roof you are careless but remember how punctual you wil be with a terror boss.
Also some people think getting to a function first is not fun

Many people (including myself) start working toward assigned tasks (such as arriving someplace on time) only short before the deadline. This might be due to lack of motivation, impaired perception of consequences, pre-set priority rules that still need to be fulfilled, the feeling we can do everything in no time such as traveling at the speed of light, and so on.

Could it be that we feel SO important and self centered in our society that we feel it's okay to be late? As busy people, I think we expect that others will excuse our lack of punctuality. As someone else said- there are no consequences for it.

The more we humans arm ourselves with scientific gadgets which make our lives easier, we take them for granted and become confident of our accuracy and speed.
We have the mind set that as we have fast machines that can take us anywhere in seconds, so why bother getting up so early? Or why hurry at all? In fact just the opposite happens.
We exploit and do not use the advantages we have in us and we get LATE.

There may be a psychological explanation, people can suffer from OCD or any other mental disorders which affect the most inane tasks everyday people take for granted.

Other than that they could just be lazy basts! lol

Some people are disorganised &/or too lazy to bother being on time. People leave home too late to get to wherever they are meant to be. Some people like to arrive late so that they can 'make an entrance.' It's very annoying.

This motiff applies more to Girls than guys.

Maybe it's because they can't judge how long it will take them to make themselves presentable!

What does a girl do on a bad hair day, wear a hat! No, she spend an extra hour with a curing iron and mousse!

They don't really want to go to where they are suppose to be. Let's face it. When there is an event that we are supposed to be at and we are looking forward to going to we are never late. Unless something drastic happens.

it could be from the fact that the event they are going to does not mean as much to them as it does to someone who arrives 10-15 mins early - can also be the fact that the public transport system (in UK) is total rubbish!
