People like all kinds of things, but what they like most of all is to feel in control of things. Being contradictory makes them feel like not only are you not being in control of the situation, but somehow they are sharing it because their viewpoint is valid, even when it is totally wrong.

There are always going to be people saying the sky is green, you just have to ignore them.

Yes people do like conflict, but they do it to piss you off most of the time. They want to start an argument. So go ahead and keep fighting for what you believe in. That is all that matters, just make sure that you are honest, if you lie then a lot of people may contradict you.

Some people feel the need to be (seen as) right all the time. It doesn't matter what you say, you're wrong and they're right.

Usually comes from a lack of self-confidence and insecurity. They have a hard time allowing someone else to have a thought or suggestion that they didn't think up first, they think you may think they're stupid for not having that idea themselves so they argue to make themselves seem smart (er), when, in fact, it does the opposite.
Also, some people argue out of habit, they've done it for so long, they probably don't even realize they're doing it and will take the other side without thinking it through.
Just sigh and walk away...if you can.

Yes some people do like conflict. I work with a girl that is very "contrary". No matter what someone says she argues it or says the opposite. It's very irritating. However, some people like to add a different view into a conversation which could be a good thing.

People aren't trying to contradict you. They just have an opinion and they feel that their opinion is right. It's their way of respecting themselves. My dad is that way. Old people think they are always right because they have lived longer and they "have seen everything".

some people just seem to be contrary by nature, I interact with many different people in my job & there are those that will argue with you if you tell them the sun will come up & there are those that love to yeah but, they take the most ridiculous possibility and say, "see if this happened it won't work." I do tire of it.

ok, i like contradicting people a lot of times, one of the reasons is because i need to say wat i think and if it goes against wat u think then there is not much that i can do, but about the whoe agruing part and stuff i just like to be right, is not that i like to be right and that most of the time i'm right, sometimes is just a way of creating a discusion, but if u think about it, most of the time people learn a lot when the contradict each other.
