2x2 is a way of saying 2+2.
2x3 is a way of saying 2+2+2.
2x4 is a way of saying 2+2+2+2.
Like wise 3x3 = 3+3+3, 4x4 = 4+4+4+4, etc.

2 x 2 means 2 lots of 2 that is 2 + 2 so both of these are 4.
3 x 3 means 3 lots of 3 that is 3 + 3 + 3 not 3 + 3.
Here's the Algebra-
If a x a = 2a then a x a - 2a = 0
a (a-2) = 0 so either a = 0 or a-2 = 0, a=2.
The only values which make a x a the same as a + a are therefore 0 and 2.

If you were trying to find the numbers that fitted this rule that x^2 (This just means x*x by the way)=2x (This is the same as x+x) then you can just treat it like a quadratic equation.
x^2=2x
Subtract x*2 from both sides.
x^2-2x=0
Factorize it
x(2-x)=0
Since if yz=0 then either y or z must = 0, then:
EITHER x=0 OR (2-x)=0
Take 2 from both sides
-x=-2
Times by -1
x=2
Check : 0^2 (or 0*0)=0 2^2 (or 2*2)=4
0+0=0 2+2=4
So there you have it, only 2 and 0 fit the formula x^2=2x and I have explained why fully.

Multiplication means multiple addition. So 7*3= 7+7+7(or 3+3+3+3+3+3+3)
so just as 2*2=2+2
3*3=3+3+3
5*5=5+5+5+5+5
7*7=7*7*7*7*7*7*7 etc
You are just looking for the wrong pattern.

The correct answer is that:
MULTIPLICATION is simply CONTINUOUS ADDITION
Remember:
4 x 1 = 4
4 x 2 = 8
4 x 3 = 12
From the above it is obvious 4, 8, 12 are simply ADDING 4 each time.
Therefore 2 x 2 is the SAME as 2 of 2 = 2 + 2
Think of some boxes each containing 2 balls.
2 boxes OF 2 = 4 balls, 3 boxes OF 2 = 6 balls and so on.
Replace the Multiplication sign by OF and you end up with the same result.

None. The product is continually more effective once you bypass above 2 and consistently decrease once you bypass decrease than. It in basic terms works with 2 because you stated "pair". in case you'll stated "discover 4 numbers" then in basic terms 4 might want to artwork.

What a deep, thoughtful question. It strikes at the very meaning of the numbers we use in our everyday lives. We are math lovers, and our symbol is '2'.
Other numbers aren't '2', and they don't get the same status as '2'. The rules of math lovers say so.
That's why.

because whether you add 2 to 2 or multiply by two both are twice 2
not so in other cases
3+3 is twice 3
but 3*3 is thrice 3
