I was just wondering whether people are just prejudiced and that in actual fact the majority of crime is being committed by white people as they are the majority. Whether statistically if 5% of the population of a region are black whether they commit 5% of the crime in an area commensurate with their population. I would also like to know whether both in real terms and in proportion to the amount of the population or whether there is a link based on poverty and family cohesiveness to the levels of crime rather than a racial link.

Sadly to say, whether one wants to admit or deny the fact... majority of those incarcerated are composed of mostly blacks. Poverty, lack of education and broken homes account for the influencing factors. Therefore an educated black man who grew up in a stable home with
a solid religious backround is less likely to commit crimes as he wouldn't be mingling with the wrong crowd,. Consider the fact here, that the poor blacks do not have the resources for good legal representation.

But it's also a stark fact that majority of blacks commit simple crimes, such as drugs trafficking, murder, homicides, theft, burglary, rapes or more often than not, domestic violence. When the crimes require more sophistication, it's usually attributed to the whites. In this category, are the serial killers, such as Gary, Dahmer, Son of David.or serial rapes such as the Florida case, or unresolved crimes such as the murder of JonBenet.

The crime is so heinous and of such magnitude that to attribute it to the blacks is beyond comprehension. The sociopathic tendencies are more prevalent in the whites here. No, I don't think that it's a racial link rather than a product of socioeconomic issues and environmental factors and absence of opportunities. .

This is a UK forum so I take it you mean UK (the FBI are nothing to do with us) the figures of those arrested and convicted do not lie. You will find the stats you want on the the yougov site. I don't genuinely believe poverty should be a problem in ANY crime of any race often it is drug related or down to the fact that people want things without having to work or put effort into getting anything so much easier to steal, mug rape and kill than actually contribute to society

All criminals are opportunists, they take it where they can.
Most embezzelers, dishonest directors etc, who steal their company's money by bank-transfer etc, are white. Because they are in a position to commit those crimes. In inner-city areas, the 'street-crime' is going to be commited by people (mostly young males) who spend a lot of time on the street. A good number of these guys may be black. But I would say 'no', there is no correlation between skin-colour and crime, where all the other factors
are equal.

Statistics need to be interpreted with caution. Even if the crime figures were to show that a larger proportion of black people within their population commit crime, the fact of the matter is that they are more likey to appear in the stats because police officers are more likely to stop a black person that they consider to be behaving suspiciously, than a white person. Of course there are links to poverty, ghettos and low expectations, where sadly black people are often disadvantaged, but we also need to ask 'who is most likely to be arrested by the police?'. Tracey H says it all!!

Because the police expect black people to commit more crime they provide more man power to these communities. With more policing available more arrests are made. When converted into statistics this shows that black people commit more crime, and the circle continues.... so I don't think that black people do commit more crime I just think that they are more likely to be caught and charged.

Poor people are more likely to commit and to suffer from crime, as they have less money to pay for crime prevention measures (alarms, locks that work, strong doors). Also deprived areas have a bigger demand for secondhand goods than affluent ones. And ethnic minorities are more likely to be deprived (for lots of historic reasons). So yeah, black people are more likely to be criminals at this point in our unjust societies. It ain't genetic and it will change (Jewish people used to well known to the police in the 19th century - as the community progressed, so "their" criminality declined).

Why can't we all just quit being so viscious to one another ??
Why can't we be friends ??? Why does someone always have to bear the brunt, and deal with the poverty and frustration ???Why would you ask such a question that you yourself could easily answer with available data ??? Right now, more than ever before, we should be banding together as Americans...who cares what color, nationality, preference ???We are all in this together, division delights the ones that would do harm to us...

I think poor people get arrested more, due to less seclusion, so black people get arrested more due their high rate of poverty. But still, they definitely commit more crimes than white people. ONLY IN AMERICA DOES THIS HAPPEN. It's either a slavery thing, or black-skinned people are evil, and the latter choice is ridiculous.

crimes happen more in poor areas and if in a poor area most of the people happen to be black then yes but it's not because black are criminals . if you were to put another race in a poor area and they were majority then they would have committed more crimes because of situations. situations make criminals not race there are as much white,Asian and every other race criminals as every thing else and it's not colour .

its easy to rubbish that myth in the UK because some cities have virtually non-existent black populations but still have high crime rates. the family cohesion aspect is interesting, but in some of the old industrial cities in northern England there is a high crime rate amongst Pakistani and Bangladeshi youths who are from cultures with Strong family traditions.
