It's a vague way of thinking. I know that you are not referring to all Muslims but to the extremists. To die in a Holy War is considered a great honour to them. What they do not truly understand is that there is a difference in dieing while fighting and death by committing suicide. The extremists do not see nor do they understand this vague difference. They merely see it as death for their cause.
People please - martyrdom and suicide are NOT the same thing

Firstly you shouldn't generalize it as "Muslims". These people are extremists. And they have been promised fortune and 70 virgins on the other side for being martyr's in their holy war. If you believe strongly that that is what you will receive, and believe strongly in their cause, you'd do the same. But it is more than believing. It is, in my opinion, a form of brainwashing. Those people are not right in their heads, it's true. But it is not all Muslims who feel that way.

I dont know where are u come from, but guess u.s. or a european country. may be you are right. in media you hear and read about this stuff. but you shouldn't judge all muslims by some examples. i'm a muslim and from iran, do u know many iranian muslim leve in u.s. you heared about anooshe ansari? is she a terrorist?
but i think the short answer to your question is that, islam is a religion which has a close relationship with politic. the leaders of islamic countries abuse from the religious beliefs and send some strong believers(most are immature) for suicide attacks.
p.s. sorry for my english.

The same question can be answered by asking why Hitler annihalated the Jews. Its the same. There are extremeists all over the world that believe that thier way is the right way.
Search History and you will find that during almost every era there has been one sect or group of people that have defended thier ways as "right". Thier "right" has always meant the destruction of anyone that opposed them. Now is no different..

I really don't get it myself. Do these people really think that by killing themselves that they will get into heaven? Christianity and islam aside, I mean I would never blow myself up for this country ( suicide bombing ) or any religion. And to do it around children and schools is what makes these type of people evil

Its not true followers of Islam, but radical extremists who are doing this. The Oklahoma City bombing was committed by American fanatics who were too chicken to kill themselves in the process. Fanatacism is not exclusive to any particular religion, and not all Muslims are fanatical to the point of committing a suicide bombing.
To make a point Hindu and Buhddists like to use self-immolation in a public place. Its like the suicide bombers, but you don't take innocent people with you.

Think of it from a simple viewpoint...
If you really did not have much to live for as far as freedom and to live in a well to do environment, your religion preached if you give up your life for the sake of Allah you will get 17 virgins, and an automatic entry to heaven...wouldn't you ponder the idea?

Muslims are taught from birth, that in order to get to heaven you have to do certin things. That there are things you can do that will get you there. Sucide in the name of Ala, is the ultimate sacrifice and they believe they will go to heaven if they do that. Its like a point system to them. They just believe what they beleive. To us (christians) its not the way to heaven. But to them it is. We will never ever change their minds...
