Tricky question! Does anybody see many happy people in their daily lives. I think the happiest people are those who can look at their faces in the mirror and face the day with confidence, self respect and good will. Who treat others with respect and try to do no wrong. People who can put their head on a pillow at night and rest well , with a clean conscientious and a guilt free soul. Now, that's happy!

I think happy people are those who do their best to make others happy, not think about themselves all the time. I do think people have to have personal integrety though and not follow the crowd if that seems the wrong thing to do for them as an individual.

It is selfish, but true and can have repercussions as the pool of people that they feed of get smaller.

Humans have by and large been successful through Altruism
as theorised in the 'Selfish Gene'

I think its true to a degree. I have sometimes looked at vagrants and homeless people and envied them. They are truely living for themself rather than living according to standards set up by someone else.

I agree that people are happier when they live life their own way, but they could also become isolated and disliked if they didnt conform at certain times.

Yes it sounds quite selfish, sounds like my mum in law, she hardly makes an effort with her grandchildren because she's always "busy" doing other things.

A happy person would be on a island with no laws or others to bother him.

You can only live life in your own way if it doesn't infringe on the way other people live their lives. EG: travellers who park on any land going..

it would be easy to live like that if you didnt care about anyone but yourself. but if you love someone ( and I don't just mean like b/friend) sometimes making them feel happy is like the greatest happiness for yourself. one of the most important factors of whether I'm happy or not is whether my family is happy.
so in short you can't be happy by yourself its pointless and not real happiness but hedonism
