I'm of the understanding that much of the world's religion is founded on some form of explaining the inexplicable by relating it to that which is universally recognized: Thus, the anthropomorphism of Judaism, Christianity and Islam; the social relevance of Taoism, Confucism and Krishna(ism); the internal dialog of Buddhism: and the animism of Hindu and Native religions the world over. Acknowledging that each of these classifications crosses over from one group to the next, ie- there is an anthropomorphism to Hindu, a social relevance to Christianity, an animism to Taoism, an internal dialog to Islam, and so on, I am particularly pragmatic in my approach to religious anthropology:
Just as the discipline to prayer and fast is central to the self control one gains as a Muslim, finding God within the myths of creation stabilizes a people within their culture. Pragmatically, the only creature I know of that can hold its own with a full grown Bengal tiger in battling over turf is a Brahma bull. So why not deify the latter? God's strength is anthropomorphised in the El forms of Judaism and in the attributions of Islam, for example, so why not through a divine bull of sorts for a people who would be wise to keep one around in the haunts of the land of the tiger. Etcetera....

It's a far better mythology to believe in than christian mythology, Jewish mythology, Islamic mythology, etc. It doesn't preach hate and intolerance like the others. and why is hinduism referred to as "Mythology"?
