Why do people want to get married anyway? Isn't marriage a ceremony where you just get a marriage license? I suggest that to all people who wants to get married do not need to get married. They can act like a married couple. The only known benefits for being married is to have less payments for taxes but then again, couldn't you do that with any other girl and not get a divorce? Couldn't someone be with someone and act like their spouse without getting married? You do not need to prove that you love the other person.

I personally don't see any reason for that legal contract except for when one partner dies and the other partner has no legal right to anything that is in the others name , or property holdings, or any say so in funeral arrangment's,or anything of that nature that that marriage certificate protect's . It's only protection under the law for your spouce. Me and mine have been together for twelve year's and never intend to get married, we are both happy just as thing's are now. I've had to stay on top of my will to make sure he's protected because all that we own is in my name. Another good reason to not marry is you will never be stuck with another person's debt's or taxes. If your married any debt the other person incurs will be on your credit report. That alone is plenty good reason to never marry, don't take on legal problem's of another person. I've seen a lot of innocent people be hurt over debt's brought into a marriage. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

For me personally, the ceremony, the license etc.. is reinforcing the commitment I made. I don't know why..but to me a boyfriend is just a boyfriend. A husband is hugely important to me , almost sacred. Maybe alot of it hast ot do with our society. I don't know but it is a big difference to me. And I like being married. And yes, you can have all that without marriage.BUT I don't know if I wold of taken it so seriously. And I can not pinpoint why.

first of all you do not get a less tax break .. single win on that one .. I know I am married , my taxes rocked before I got married . maybe you should talk to your parents about why people get married , or you must be from a broken home ..

I think the reason of why a marriage is essential is to reinforce the commitment that you made.
