Well, the Founding Fathers chafed against being tasked without having proper representation in the English Parliament. I sometimes wonder if the English King had just given then a place in parliament instead of sending troops to squelsh the uprising, when there ever have been a United States?

As for what ticked off Bin Laden, I don't know very much about that, except that the American way of life is so contrary to his beliefs that he wants us wiped off the planet.

I don't know about the Saudis, but King George of England did a number of things that made it difficult to live in the colonies, among them: taxed the colonies without hearing from their representatives, housed soldiers in civilian's houses during times of peace, issued 'blank warrants' that allowed his officials to search anyone's house and property without a need for a reason, among other things.
