Much depends on where your daycare is located.

If near a business district - pass the word by way of flyers and business cards. Don't get cutesy in your presentation. Focus on the things that parents would want for their children while they are working. Individual attention, healthy snacks, organized group activies, free time, exercise, educational games, etc., etc. While the parents are being productive they'll hope that their children are as well.

If in the suburbs, make your presence known where business people gather or conduct personal business: Grocery, cleaners, transit center, gas stations, coffee shops, golf course, etc. Again - this depends on your location and community activity.

Craigslist is cram full of advertising - yours might be lost - but, hey, its free!

Samples from online websites:
"I pass out magnetic business cards at Halloween in the goody bags."
"Let all local schools close to you know that you do child care. Most have lists they keep to help parents that inquire."

I used a Google Search with no quotes = advertising daycare

For low or no cost advertising, try printing out little signs to hang in the post office, banks and other places around town. Ask local school districts and pediatrician offices if you can post a sign or notice for you. Also, place a sign at your house, too.

Since it sounds like you have some capacity constraints, and because reputation would really matter for parents, I'd recommend a word-of-mouth / viral / referral approach. Offer a discount to current clients for referring new clients to you. Likewise, offer an incentive to friends and family -- people who can vouch for your credentials -- when they refer new clients to you. Good luck

If you are liscenced, you can advertise in the paper. Many people advertise their daycares with colorful wooden signs on their property. If you are not liscenced, I would do that as soon as possible. It will help you immensely.

with your current clients, offer a reward for them to recommend your service
compose a flyer that shows your service and give your clients 5 of them. with their name on them, for every new client you get,[new client gives you the flyer, you deduct $5.00 off of their child care bill.
