...and now regret that you didn't? And why?

Ok...silly story alert.....

When I was 16 or so I went to a psychic. Not that I "believe" in psychics...not that I don't. I just went to one with a bunch of friends for fun.

This psychic was based out of her own home. She was much older....in her 70's. She had dozens of religious icons in her house...hanging on her wall...sitting on her furniture.....standing on the floor. It was very odd. She called me into her room...the room where she did her psychic thing and I sat down. She had a crystal ball and some tarot cards (or something similar). Now, being raised a devout Catholic I figured at any moment Jesus himself was going to come down and beat me senseless.... but he didn't. Instead, I spent 1/2 hour in this room hearing about my "future". This lady told me things that made absolutely no sense at all but that freaked me out. In retrospect, I think she may have gotten a few things right. HA! (I don't know how the heck I remember what she said - but I do). Ok....long story short.......here were her "sitings"

"you will marry man with hazel eyes.... he will do business with money.... and he will raise hands. beware... don't do it"

"you will go away and learn about drugs. You will stay there and meet friend with problems. She will die from problems if you don't help"

"stay away from the drink...it will be very bad for you. better you travel...its in this card here".

A 16 year old doesn't like to see the "big picture". *sigh* I think I would've preferred Jesus coming down to beat me senseless. Perhaps then I would've listened "all those years ago".

I've always listened to my parents and they were the only ones that counted in my life growing up. Without listening to them rant and rave about finances, I'd be bankrupt. But, I have to say, the one time I didn't listen to them was when they were explaining to me I was too young (19 yrs old) when I married the first time and now I"m with 2 kids, single mom, working a full time job outside of the home. Should have listened to my parents then and maybe I'd have more now than I do (not that I regret my kids, cause I don't).

My mother. Everyone of her warnings about my future came true. As a young man, I was much too arrogant to take her advice and much too dismissive of her intelligence and parental intuition. My life is not a wreck, by any means. But it has many flaws I could have avoided if I only listened to her more.

The ELDERS, who have been there before, no matter when:
---Mother and Father
---Grandmother and Granfather
---Older family members and friends
---Anyone who has "been there, done that" and came through the better for it

And ALWAYS, importantly, throughout your entire life:
---Your own intuition, inner voice and just plain common sense

That old curmudgeon pharmacist who told me--'Young lady! You're going to get into trouble!' He was right.
