they made excuses at the very last minute not to strike because there would be something like 200 civilian casualties

the really nasty thing is the Clinton administration pulled out of their latest strike in 1999, and about 18 months later President Bush is in command, and Clinton tells Bush that Al-Qaeda is the number one threat to America and foolishly, George decided to give Al-Qaeda a very low priority, much to the dismay of the National Security Advisor, Richard A. Clarke, who has since quit his job and written two books trying to explain the intelligence blunders and the number of times his repeated warnings would fall on deaf ears.

the last chance they had was in 1999, they pulled out because osama was hawk hunting with some government officials from the UAE, and they feared that if they missed Osama and got a politician the repocussions would never stop.
i reckon they should've at least had a go, considering the outcome 2 years later

They've had him in the sights a few times. Not sure just exactly how many. Even if there was only a one-time chance to take him out, they should have done it. Why worry about their civilians, when the sure as hell didn't worry about American civilians on 9/11? Osama should not be walking around now laughing at the USA.

Interestingly, I was just, for the first time, informed that I was leaving a secure page when I attempted to give my views on this question. Therefore, I will say nothing more than isn't it nice that Richard Clarke is pulling in all those royalties.

If we had the opportunity one time and passed on it for whatever reason that was one time too many.

Alot of mistakes were made. On both sides. Instead of pointing fingers and acting like idiots why don't we demand of our leaders that something like this never happen again.

If there is a threat, or if someone makes a threat against us, take them out and ask questions later.

This is a game to most of you and it is pretty sickening.

Far fewer than Bush has had. But he's a cowboy and talks tough, so he can get away with being a wimpy appeaser. When a chickenhawk wraps himself in the flag, he is crossdressing.

Guess Runny Rayguns could have stopped this early on when America was supporting and encouraging Osama bin-Bush!

We'll probably never know. The fact is that the government made a mistake, now they need to learn from that mistake. Have they? Time will tell.
