I had Earl Weaver Baseball II on 5" floppies. The action graphics were horrible but the game was a very deep strategy simulation that used Kernel to download current roster information and ratings each week from Stats, Inc. This game allowed users to create custom stadiums with varying dimensions and fence heights - which was pretty cool at the time. As baseball games become more arcade-oriented, I think back nostalgically from time-to-time of the joy of playing this early Electronic Arts masterpiece.

There were so many great DOS games. Almost everything Apogee released back then was fun (Commander Keen, Crystal Caves, Monster Bash, Duke Nukem).
It's pretty rare to find a gamer who can appreciate games that old and "obsolete" :)

back in 1987, my class used to have a class called "computer class"
in computer class, we would learn about floppy disks, (not the 3.5 that most of you know of, i'm talking the big ones that really WERE floppy!)
we would learn about hardware and software (what they meant)
then we would play OREGON TRAIL.
this is a game where you are supposed to move from the east coast to the west coast, and you need to worry about repairs to your wagon, food supplies, etc...
however, the real purpose of the game was to go hunting!
you'd move all sorts of directions and shoot those squirrels, bears, deer, chipmunks, and rabbits for food!
