It depends on what you are looking for. I am Mexican, therefore I would choose Puerto Vallarta because is the place that best resembles what Mexico is really like, don't get me wrong, Cabo and Cancun are both gorgeous places but they are more turistic than Vallarta, if you want to play Golf in some great Golf Courses go to Cabo, if you are interested in wild nightlife both Cabo and Cancun are good options, if you want to see Pyramids or visit mayan ruins go to Cancun, if you want less of a buzz go to Vallarta. I would also suggest Cozumel...

Hope that helped!

The last time that we were in Akumal (one hour thirty minutes south of Cancun) it was in mid April in 2004. The water was beautiful and warm. It was also during the time that the turtles come in to lay there eggs. I had never really been in the water when so many turtles were present, and I was excited about the opportunity.
I was very surprised at the aggresiveness of the turtles. I hope that the experience I had was an isolated one since I will be back next April in 2007. My encounter was fun at first but then it had a turn for the worse in my opinion. My turtle encounter was with a Loggerhead I think. It was a larger and older turtle and I am not sure of the gender of the shelled swimmer. I was caught completely off guard when I was attacked and suffered painful bite to the head from the old turtle. The bite had me very worried because of the amount of blood loss from my head. I thought for sure that soon I would be fighting off sharks that could have been in the area. Luckily for me I was only about three hundred yards from the shore. After a painful swim for safety and some first aid from the locals I was soon fine and able to consume some fine 1800 tequila and share my adventure. I was told that my story was very uncommon and that it would not likely happpen again. I hope that it doesn' t happen again. I will also be more respectful. I think that the real reason for my mishap could have been prevented. At first I pulled the turtles tail and then I poked his eye. I think the clincer was the drumming on the shell.
The biting wasn't only from the turtle during my stay. I can also say that I sufferd an arm bite from a strange looking dog while near Coba and a bite from a quatamuindi (sic) at beach restaurant next to the Copa Cobana.

I also go to both Cabo and Puerto Vallarta and those are different stories. Last time PV two weeks watched Super Bowl, too bad Seattle.

I just spent a week in Cabo in the beginning of August. Beautiful beaches, shopping, and the locals were VERY accomodating and nice. I haven't been to either Puerto Vallarta or Cancun, but I'm telling you this place is GREAT! I wish I could have spent another week there. It can be very reasonably priced too. Rent a condo with a kitchen for a week and you can to go the local Costco (built not too long ago) and eat in your place. I would recommend this trip to anyone!

I've been to all three many times, but I personally LOVE Cabo San Lucas...hands down!! all three you mentioned have their own personality and charm, but I enjoy Cabo, because you can have the option of peace and quiet in san jose and partying it up in cabo san lucas. Some people prefer the waters in Cancun, but they are not aware there are many snorkling swimming beaches in cabo...you just have to find them. I think the water is gross in PV. The bars are all equivalent, the shopping the same, restaurants the same, you wouldn't even know you were in a different town.. Why do you ask??

I've been to all 3,Cabo is very much a desert, nice golf courses, whale watching during the winter, lots of clubs,BUT the most expensive part of Mexico.Cancun is more modern, lots of clubs and nightlife, you can drive south to the ruins at Tulum, prettiest beach in Mexico,Puerto Vallarta, old city, very nice resort hotels, jungle,"they filmed Predator there" of the 3 I prefer Cancun, more to do! Have Fun!

Cabo San Lucas is nice. Puerto Vallarta is a lil to dirty for me. I went on a cruise to Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas, and Mazatlan.

Cancun is Fabulous! The water is so clear and blue and the people are all friendly and it's a cleaner city than a lot I've seen. I love it there so much I got a timeshare!
