12a+5b-3

You can't give an answer to this as you don't know what either a or b are and you can't work out a or b because you don't know the answer to the equation. All you can do with this is shorten the equation to it's simplist form as below. You do this by adding the a's together, then adding the b's together and then adding the numbers without letters together, 10a+2a=12a, 3b+2b=5b and +2-5= -3 simplified this is 12a+5b-3=

To do this, first add up the "a"s:
So 10a + 2a = 12a

Then add up the "b"s:
3b + 2b = 5b

Finally the whole numbers:
2 - 5 = -3

Therefore:
12a + 5b - 3 = ?

So 12a + 5b = +3 (the sign changes as it goes on the other side of the "=")

All you can do if you have no additional info is to combine the terms with a and the terms with b. You will never get a number for a or b.

(10a+2a) + (3b+2b)+(2-5) = 12a+5b-3

Interestnig algebra question.
Simple answer.
10a+3b+2+2a+2b-5=
10a+2a+3b+2b+2-5=
12a+5b-3=
12a+5b=3
Now for the easy part, what when multiplied gives you 3?
12(4)=48
5(-9)=-45
therefore
12(4) + 5(-9) = 3
48 - 45 = 3
3=3
