It is protected from remote hackers, yes. Whether it is protected from hackers who have physical access to the machine depends on how exactly the machine is set up - how strong passwords you use, whether your disk is encrypted, for how long the machine is left unattended, etc. - but the answer is probably "no".

I am not 100% for sure on this but If your computer is not turned off then no I do not think it is protected from hackers. If it is on there it is still open. This is even worse for people with cable internet and wireless because of the fact that they keep the same IP address..

yeah sure coz all the port to the Internet will be closed or blocked till you turn your PC on again
