I wouldn't.
If they win they do it on their own merits.
My daughter was disabled and couldnt take part in sport for 5 years. Even when she was allowed to do sport, she had no stamina, but the school encouraged her to take part, and she took pride in her achievements no matter what.
Winning isn't everything.

It is not up to a parent to 'make sure' their child won a sporting event. It is up to the child.

I would go as far as the child herself/himself is prepared to go, with my (parent(s)) support. It all depends on how passionate the child is about the sport he/she is doing; how much energy, time and efforts the child is prepared to invest in such a sporting venture. However, the parent(s) should not impose his/her dreams on the child so as to override the child's interest, decision and goal. As a parent, should my child decides to get involve in any sporting events, I would go as far - although I would also be prepared to give all the support the child needs to do his/her best, but I would only go - as far as the child is prepared to go. I would not, or cannot, bully my child or be so strict so as to make the whole sporting experience a nighmarish one for the family - memories the family would prefer to forget, rather than cherish for life.

I read on teletext that a parent at a gymkhana in Jersey gave all the other children's ponies a fast acting sedative to enable their child to do well!
That is beyond a joke!

i wouldnt go far at all.. it is up to the way the child preforms. parents tha get all hostile and go hit kids for not winning need to not have the kid.
if my child wins and deserved the win horay! if my child lost and didnt preform they way he/she should have then what to do its not the end of the world there is always another time.

not at all, that will put WAY too much stress, let them practice when they want and dont train them if ur there parents. Maybe get there friends together and let them play that makes them more athletic, but if its like gymnastics make sure they actually like it before u train them. Or thats how i understand it

this is wrong. you should encourage your child to do his/her best and to have fun. once you start pressuring your child, it becomes more of a job than a fun extracurricular activity.
