You're better off thinking in terms of a 'grid' then a 'line'.

You can be 'conservative' or 'liberal/permissive' on social issues.

You can be more in favor of capitalism or socialism on economic issues.

Its a myth that fascists are the 'extreme right' and communicsts are 'extreme left'.

Communists and fascists are similar on social issues, but different on economic ones - though fascists are actually fairly middle of the road on economic issues.

The polar opposite of communism would be libertarianism - extreme capitalism combined with laissez faire social policies (legalized drugs, prostitution, etc).

There's no 'rollover' point where right wing becomes left wing.
