are there any alternative routes to becoming a veterinarian in the U.S.?

Also, any advice for those who are older and considering going back to school for a veterinary degree?

you can search for combined vet programs, that means you don't have to finish a bachelor's degree, I'm not sure if there's anything like that. but there are lots of combined medicine programs so I though there would be such programs in veterinary medicine as well.

It is more difficult to enter vet school than medical school....become a doctor.
