Does this mean 18 months of not being pregnant? Or 18 months from beginning of one pregnancy to beginning of next pregnancy? If it's the latter, why don't they just say 18 months between births to clear up the confusion? Also, if it's the latter, that's only 9 months off from being pregnant to let your body rest. Is that enough time? I thought you generally need at least 1 year to recover.

What the doctors mean is 18 months from the day you give birth till the next time you allow yourself to get pregnant.......I have been in the bizness for 20 years.....it is to let your body rest.

It called spacing of births and what your doctor is trying to tell you is that you should wait one and a half year from the date of delivery before trying to get pregnant again, meaning that there will be a gap of 28 months (2 years and 4 months) between delivery

This means that you should not get pregnant for 18 months after having the baby. As was stated before 1 year is what is usually suggested for normal vaginal delivery, but for a c-section they suggest a little longer.

It is 18 months between pregnancies or about 2.5 years between births. If mom breastfeeds it is recommended to wait 6 months after weaning baby before getting pregnant again.

18 months after birth because it takes that long for the body to fully recover from the previous pregnancy and birth.

I would say 18 months of not being pregnant. If you nurse your baby (which is the way nature intended) it would be at least that long before your body would allow you to become pregnant again.Your body needs time to recover. Ask your doctor.

Its probly 18 months inbetween births. Your body needs time to rest and get used to not being pregnant and get back to normal. And that can take awhile.
