From Adam to Noah there is a prophecy in the names. Hebrew names have meanings. It says "Man is appointed mortal sorrow but the blessed God shall come down preaching his death shall bring the despairing rest"

What and who is this talking about and why is it in the Torah a Jewish document?

Why is there so much scinentific evidence and archaeological evidence for the bible?

God, by definition, requires FAITH. If you need evidence, you do not have faith and faith is the basis of every and all religions.

This is a room for science, which means we deal in data and evidence. You give none. Religion give none. Science, by definition, is void of faith.

By the way, many things in science actually disprove the stories in the bible (worldwide flood, age of the earth, evolution).

The scientific evidence for the bible is all in terms of locations and people. This doesn't prove that the miraculous events occurred; this only proves that the cities and people existed.

Scientific evidence means proof by observation and experiment, not by referring to an old book, which can't be proven.

I don't understand what "the Torah a Jewish document' has to do with proof in God or not.

No, I really don't see what this proves. Hebrew names can be written out into a vague message. So?...

The Bible says many things. If you want to prove the entire Bible to be 100% correct, you'd have to prove them all. Most historians agree that Jesus existed, since we can read about him in Roman documents (i.e. an independent source corroborating the evidence). So that's one. That he was the son of God is not known to be true outside of the Bible, so you need to believe in the Bible to begin with. That one remains.

The question is, as a believer, do you really need to PROVE the Bible?

"why is there so much evidence?"-? was that your question??

the simple answer is- because God is real, and He created the universe.

Gen. 1:1 "in the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth."

Gen 1:27 "so God created man in His own image..."

all this evidence... even nature itself... demands an intelligent Being... demands creation... denies evolution.

(i do not know what the "torah" is)

i'm not sure what verse you're quoting- although i've never heard it before. i can tell you that "man" is all of mankind... we all will have sorrow and grief as long as we live. we were "appointed" it because we chose sin over God in the garden of eden. (Gen.)

God "coming down" could be a couple of things.

1) Jesus Christ coming to earth as a blood sacrifice for our sins, offering the hope of eternal life, and befriending the friendless- "bringing rest to the despaired."

2) the rapture. God coming back to take all those living in Him to be in Heaven praising His name. which will be the final and eternal "rest."

and bottom line_, oh yeah! that's plenty for me to believe in. signs of God's hand are coated all over the universe. I couldn't believe anything else! ... "A.D."- the way we count modern time- is latin. it means "ano domini" which is literally- "in the yaer of our Lord." the whole world counts this way... now why would we do that???

well... i hope i at least answered your question a little, and maybe helped you some. if i didn't- sorry, i may not have perfectly understood your question.

The existance of God is entirely subjective. It's not subject to proof, or to disproof for that matter.

I'd love to see evidence that the solar system was created by some extra-galactic monster, who also seeded life on the Earth. However, I wouldn't call such an EG monster "God", nor would most believers. Since "God" is an abstract/metaphysical concept.

Facts can be construed to fit anyone's agenda, ask any politician...I really wish that Santa Claus really in fact existed, too, but woefully enough it just is not so...Not stealing, having your way with the neighbor's wife, murdering someone...I can understand that, but I believe it is personal integrity that keeps most folks from doing these kind of things... I DO NOT need the threat of a superior being raining down "wrath" on me to keep me doing what I believe is right. I have prayed for decades, and have not seen one solitary result as far as I can tell... I must admit, if he appeared before me, materializing out of thin air, I would be willing to reverse my opinion... In the meanwhile, I stand behind my beliefs... All the colorful anecdotes and stories are just not enough to make me believe any different...Mass murderers and atheists see the same wonderful sunsets, babies, and other such "wonders" as devout bible thumpers....

Evidence is enough for those who believe and not enough for those who don't.

I am a Christian because I have seen too much not to believe. But I guarantee that this question will attract respondents who reject the evidence for the Bible. Evidence is always subject to interpretation. And for the nonbeliever, even God coming down would not be enough. Read the parable of the rich man and Lazarus. As Abraham said "if they do not believe the prophets, they will not believe someone rising from the dead."

Okay - firstly, what SCIENTIFIC evidence? Has anyone found Noah's Ark? No. Dinosaurs? Yup. Left them out of the Bible, didn't they?

So, nope, there's no evidence in that statement to make me believe in God.

It would take God himself in all his shining glory coming down from heaven and inviting me for a quick pint down my local and tunring some water into wine before I even begin to entertain the notion there is a supreme creator out there.

My evidence is a newborn child, the smell in the air after a spring rain, the view of the night sky on a clear night, a small sunflower seed growing up to 8 ft tall and producing 5 pounds of seeds, a baby animal, a bird, my own life. Smarmy? Maybe, but I believe. I am in no position to convince others one way or the other. I cannot argue with those who only parrot, one way or the other. I am very comfortable with it.
