Jaywalkers are as much a danger to drivers as they are to themselves. I agree that they must be angling for a lawsuit - since we're supposed to yield to pedestrians, their carelessness can put us partially at fault. In Holland, it's a different scene. Bike paths, etc. are everywhere and motorists are very conscience of their surroundings since ppl are darting out from every direction.

Dang near every day, those people are most certainly looking for a free ride, by that I mean lawsuit, they understand that pedestrians have the right of way and they're hoping to get hit.

I usually start driving faster, and pretend that I am trying to hit them because they usually get scared. And I deal with this daily.
