I was sitting here and all of a sudden I started to feel something that resembled my heartbeat, in my stomach. It wasn't my pulse though, because I compared the two and they were off from one another. It just felt like a little tap ever second or so. Could that have been the baby having hiccups?

I'm 25 weeks pregnant, is it normal to feel the baby hiccup around this time in my pregnancy?

Yes it is. The baby wil get hiccups when he or she swallows too much amniotic fluid. When the baby gets bigger you will see the baby "jump" when they hiccup. It is really fun to watch. Well and to feel. When small they are little bumps but as they get bigger they get stronger and stronger. I wish you all the luck in the world and congradulations!!! I hope you have a healthy baby.

I had the same thing happen to me when I was in the doctors office and she told me that they were hiccups. We heard them on the heart monitor! It is so strange when you are pregnant...feels like you are a detective trying to figure out what is going on!

Question: Is it normal for my baby to be hiccupping in the womb?

Answer: Yes. Fetal hiccupping is a normal phenomenon that's been felt by many pregnant women and has been observed on many an ultrasound. Your baby may have started hiccupping intermittently beginning in the late first or early second trimester, although you wouldn't have been able to feel the hiccups at that early stage.

Some women notice episodes of hiccups — which feel like a series of little rhythmic movements — a number of times a day, while other women only notice them once in a while.

Hiccupping is common in newborn babies, too, so after you give birth, don't be surprised if your little one hiccups occasionally.

Sounds like it. They get the hiccups pretty often. My daugher used to get them a few times a day, for 20 or so minutes....actually sometimes it would get annoying when she would get them while I was trying to go to sleep. Lo and behold, after she was born she was a real hiccup-er for a few weeks. She hardly ever does now, unless I tickle her and she laughs a lot.

If it's a rhythm like hiccups then it is. Your heart beat is a bit different. I believe that is what you are feeling. Good luck with the little joy.

Sounds like hiccups to me. My little girl got them a couple of times in my belly and ALL the time after birth. Neat, huh? Its worth video taping your belly jump around if that's available to you while it's happening.
