I am white too (Irish) and I have Chinese (and Filipino) friends but it pains me and I feel sorry for them everytime I hear or see them being discriminated, laughed at, shouted at, branded as 'chinks', etc... They are NICE & EDUCATED than most of us!

As much as I wanna try to protect them, I don't wanna instigate any trouble. I just don't see the point why they have to do that!

I totally agree. I go to the School of Oriental and African Studies in London and most of my friends are Asian. However, luckily I have never seen them be discriminated against and they have never mentioned it so perhaps it is a more regional/social group issue. My friends are generally students/academics in London who want to learn about others and give respect to get respect. It is a sad thing that others cannot feel this way.

I think some within society have a problem with people of any culture, race different from themselves. Ignorance is bliss. I believe we should all embrace the differences in people, you may learn something. I believe when people make nasty comments or feel hatred toward someone because of their identity, something they have no control over, it is because they are not secure or happy with themselves, ignorant. If they knew better they would do better.

Yes, i understand completely, some people don't like diversity... In good sense, a variety of cultures and lifestyles that differentiate one another is what makes the world so interesting. If all human beings respect that, they too are abit smarter than their average. : )

Be proud of who you are and who your friends are. People who would make such comments are not worthy of your attention. No one should discriminate, laugh at, shout at, brand, someone they do not know.
Maybe you are expecting too much from the dregs of humanity.

Ahhh Asians-I heart Asians. Some Americans don't know, but they have Asian ancestry-you wouldn't know by their looks-but alls you have to do is look into their eyes! Those people are just jealous of Asians, because they are known for being smart-smarter! God bless you and your friends! I find Asians who are mixed with White European genes to be gorgeous-Ah-so pretty!

Some people don't have enough self love, so they are unable to interact with people we aren't just like them. If we were all the same color, they would discriminate because or hair color! It's not about your friends.

I am half Chinese and half English, so I can understand your point of view whilst empathise with your friends.

Unfortunately, you cannot do alot about ignorance and it is not worth the hassle of 'enlightening' people who show no interest in opening their closed views.

Take heart in the fact that you are one of the growing trend of people who can look beyond colour/race.
