Here's an easy way to do it without a calculator.
Work on 10% and 1% because 10% is one tenth and 1% is 1 hundredth.
10% of 150 is 15
1% of 150 is 1.5
2% of 150 is 3 (twice 1%)
12% is 10% + 2% so 15 + 3 = 18
If you want to use a calculator go decimal-12% = 0.12
so 0.12 x 150 = 18
